Job Overview

We are seeking a Program Management Specialist to join our Power Innovations group in Huntsville, AL. The Power Innovations (PI) group within Aerojet Rocketdyne's Rocket Shop manages rapid development of experimental prototypes intended for both traditional and non-traditional markets. The position requires approximately 80% direct charging to contract, B&P or IR&D accounts.

This position will be located at our off-site Rapid Prototype Center (RPC) on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, AL.

Essential Functions

Working under minimal direction:

65% - The Power Innovations Program Manager is responsible for managing the technical, schedule and financial performance of programs and projects within the PI organization. Several projects may be managed simultaneously. Additionally, the PI Program Manager may serve as the deputy program manager on large, existing contracts.

30% - The position requires pursuit and capture of external funding, including proposal development, for developing innovative technologies in support of the overall Aerojet Rocketdyne growth strategy and goals. This requires developing business relationships with commercial and government customers for developing technologies and transition of the technologies to full scale development.

5% - This position involves supporting a steady flow of prototype development and testing that moves through the Huntsville RPC while ensuring operations in the RPC are 100% EH&S compliant. Regular communication is expected with program chief engineers to ensure the RPC is available as a resource for all of Aerojet Rocketdyne.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree and Masters Degree (preferred) in an engineering or physics discipline and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience leading and managing programs of varying size or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires experience with missile technology and development of high power density propulsion systems.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 10 years of combined experience in government and/or commercial program execution.
  • Must have experience working proposals for government contracts.
  • Experience with business management, material estimating, supplier management and purchasing is a plus.
  • Strong communications skills, team building in a cross-functional working environment, and demonstrated skill in working on fast-paced and technically challenging programs is required. This includes a demonstrated ability to understand and manage financial and schedule risk and to know when accepting these risks is prudent.

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
