Position Summary

Trideum Corporation has an opening for a Senior Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer supporting multiple programs in Huntsville, AL. This is a full-time position at the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC) located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. The Senior Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer will report directly to the Senior Program Manager.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and support Electromagnetic Environment Effects (E3)
  • Design, fabricate, and oversee manufacturing of instrumentation based on testing requirements.
  • Miniaturize instrumentation to fit in small missile cavities to both "spoof" missiles into thinking they are flying during E3 tests and to collect performance data.
  • Provide senior-level advisement and consulting on existing instrumentation designs.
  • Implement EMC hardening (filtering, shielding, board design) to survive and operate in harsh E3 environments

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field
  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Specific areas of expertise required:
    • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) hardened instrumentation design
    • Electromagnetic (EM) filtering
    • Experience with missile systems, RS-422, and CAN bus communication protocols
    • Extensive experience with Altium Designer, FPGA, and microcontrollers
    • Design/manufacturing of battery packs based on test requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to not only provide advisement but also perform the "hands-on" tasks required for E3 instrumentation is required.
  • U.S. citizenship and an Active DoD Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to implement EMC hardening (filtering, shielding, board design) to survive and operate in the harshest of E3 environments (>> 200V/m E fields) across a very broad spectrum of frequencies (2MHz to 50 GHz).
  • Novel power generation - Instrumentation requires battery or air turbine technology to allow long operation times without recharging.
  • Fiber optics - Understanding of fiber optic technology and implementation to relay data collected from test item to processing location
  • Missile, aviation, and weapon expertise - Understanding of weapon system performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rapidly fix problems during test events.
