Geotechnical Project Engineer/Project Manager

S&ME is searching for a dynamic and passionate full-time Project Engineer/Manager ready to join our Geotechnical team in Huntsville, Alabama.

Join us as a Geotechnical Project Engineer/Manager leading geotechnical projects with minimal guidance and be involved in a variety of high-profile projects that make an impact, from subsurface explorations to construction support, shaping the engineering landscape.


Beyond your technical expertise, you will coordinate the field activities and mentor junior staff, engage with clients, and drive business development for S&ME's success.

  • Perform and manage geotechnical engineering services, typically including soil, rock, and groundwater conditions
  • Perform geotechnical design services including subsurface explorations, slope stability evaluation, retaining wall design, pile load testing, and forensic evaluations
  • Develop and coordinate field explorations, project management, invoicing and budget tracking, and client and business development
  • Bridge technical and non-technical communication, conveying design intricacies to clients and teams
  • Proactive support of safety on all projects

Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or related field
  • You have a minimum of 1 year work experience monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget
  • You are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or have the ability to obtain within 6 months

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. The successful candidate must meet the requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy, and Reference Check Program.
