Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. The selected candidate will work with their team to define a weekly schedule around their classes and may be eligible to work part of their schedule remotely. Interns are expected to work at least 16 hours each week throughout the year. GDMS offers flexibility for time off, midterms, final exams, and other conflicts as the arise with advance notice. The selected candidate will have the oppotunity to utliize their skills in many different roles including:

• Developing mission critical software solutions
• Applying object oriented design using languages such as C# and C++
• Applying UI framework technologies like React and Angular
• Working on operating systems such as Windows and Linux
• Building code utlizing softwre development methodologies such as Agile
• Participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; desin, code implementation, troubleshooting, integration, test, amd systems operations

QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED):

• Proficient in multiple software platforms
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work in a collaborartive and team-based environment
