This role is part of theBlue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.

As part of a small, passionate, and driven team of propulsion test engineers, you will be responsible for carrying out test operations to meet program objectives for the current and future generations of Blue Origin engines. This role is based in Huntsville, AL. Our teams believe in continuous improvement of ourselves and our colleagues as we train and develop each other into our defined roles. In this role you will directly contribute to engine test operations by assisting with test planning and execution, risk identification and mitigation, hardware integration for test campaigns, post-test inspections, data review, and engine performance analysis. You will help identify and improve non-conforming test hardware while you also establish processes that promote efficient and reliable testing. This position will directly have a hand in defining the future of rocket engine development and thereby space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical, or physics desired)
  • 2-3 years experience in a rocket engine testing or equivalent industry
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Experience in writing and executing test procedures
  • Proven experience in data review and analysis
  • Work On-site at Marshall Space Flight Center Test Stand 4670, Huntsville, AL
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work independently
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids and thermodynamics
  • Experience in troubleshooting instrumentation and fluid system components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements, and engineering drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:
  • M.S. degree or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering with experimental lab experience
  • Liquid rocket engine test experience
  • Hands-on experience integrating test articles and sub-assemblies for test
  • Experience in designing, fabricating, and operating complex fluid systems
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and test instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples, silicon diodes, resistance temperature detectors, flow meters, load cells and accelerometers.
  • Experience in identifying and rectifying non-conforming hardware
  • Operational Understanding of engines and engine sub-components, such as turbopumps, combustion devices, valves, and other fluid components
  • Experience with hazard and risk analysis
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Winplot, or other control, data acquisition, and reduction software
  • Familiarity with CAD applications (ProE or Creo preferred)
