Blue Origin is self-funding the rapid development of multiple in-space flight systems over a range of sizes, propellant types, and technical challenges. As part of a hard-working and accomplished team, you will own significant scopes of electrical integration and test efforts for space vehicles. This includes integration of electrical subsystems into the spacecraft, ensuring compatibility with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), and deployment of the Ground Data System (GDS). In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will develop test plans, and oversee test procedure and test script development. You will lead elements of electrical test execution during vehicle integration through final testing in preparation for launch.

You will contribute to the successful completion of major test campaigns, including planning, writing test plans and test procedures, developing test equipment, and compiling test reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, and coordination of the resources necessary to successfully execute testing of electrical systems for development and verification.
  • Coordinate with the design engineer subject matter experts across each affected system under test to integrate the identified System verification requirements into the detailed test plan for the development risk reduction and/or verification run for record events as appropriate.
  • Lead the conduct of Test Design Reviews, Integration Readiness Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews for your events.
  • Oversee several test projects simultaneously
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks
  • Contribute to the mentoring & training of other personnel

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with test, flight, and safety-critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment
  • Previous experience with spacecraft/satellite functional test development and/or execution, hardware ownership (responsible engineer), or hardware qualification and/or acceptance testing
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • Direct experience developing test infrastructure, integrating the test articles, and testing Major Assembly Spacecraft Test Articles with emphasis on Electrical systems
  • Experience with analytical and scripting tools: Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, C++
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and technical requirements
  • Ability to perform data analysis and reduction and present technical information in a clear and compelling visual format
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Hands-on test and production facility, factory, or laboratory experience
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system integration labs (SIL)
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools; DOORS, DOORS Next Gen and lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data, Windchill
  • Hands-on testing experience in thermal, vibration, shock, and vacuum testing on flight hardware by MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540
