Job Description

Job Summary:

  • The purpose of the Quality Checker Tufting Tech is to perform weight checks when setting up tufting machines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check all dye headers.
  • Review all check strips for defects.
  • Perform side match checks on all set-ups.
  • Check graphic thread-ups with machine operators.
  • Insure all tufting rolls are wrapped and labeled correctly.
  • Print necessary tufting paperwork and roll tickets.
  • Review check rolls with Supervisor for quality problems.
  • Add footage of tufting orders.
  • Check all specials for correct footage and construction.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting of carpet check strips weighing 20 to 50 lbs. 20% of the time is required.
  • Standing is required 80% of shift for 1 to 2-hour intervals.
  • Reaching is required 10% of time for carpet swatches.
  • Stooping is required to pick up carpet, yarn, etc. 20% of time for intervals of 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Bending is required 10 to 15% of the shift.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and shade differences.
  • Must be able to use scissors as warranted throughout shift.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel.

Other Requirements:

  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Safety equipment must be worn as required.
  • Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
  • Responsible for quality, safety, and housekeeping of his/her own output.
